ABOUT KEN

Ken McCarty lives in the Chugiak/Eagle River Community. His career experience includes working in private practice as a licensed marriage and family therapist and as an adjunct professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Representative McCarty believes that true leadership is not for the glamour of one, but the accomplishment of many. Whether in the “limelight” or shadows, a true leader inspires, empowers, and affirms all in the process.
McCarty’s community service experience includes serving as a trustee of the Alaska Mental Health Trust and as the executive director of Discovery Cove Recovery and Wellness Center. He also served as president of the Alaska Association of Marital and Family Therapists and secretary of the Alaska Collaborative of Telemedicine and Teletherapy. He has also been an engaged member of the Chugiak/Eagle River Rotary Club, as well as the Eagle River Lions. He recently coordinated to rebuild the racquet courts at Lion’s Park for tennis, pickleball, and concerts in the park with ground breaking on the project beginning fall of 2020.
